About Me

My name is Natalie, and I am a graphic designer and lives in Fergus, Ontario, Canada. I work in the production department of the local paper. It is steady work and given newspaper crisis I am lucky to have such steady employment. It also allows me enough free time to work on my hobbies.

I live – much like a hobbit – in a hole in the ground, well more precise a basement apartment. But it’s pretty much a hole in the ground. At least I have my tv, internet and game systems to keep my occupied and procrastinate on the real reason why I’m here.

This is a blog to advertise my stories. Whether they be short stand alone stories or the beginnings of novels, serials and/or other random scenes that are bouncing around in my head. I got my start to writing from a friend who introduced me to a Star Wars fanfic website. From there I’ve grown tremendously, and created several characters, some who have risen to popularity on the board and others who I have just abandoned due to lack of inspiration.

I have since become more confident in my skills. I have entered the NaNoWriMo challenge and have successfully finished the 50k challenge numerous times. Re-writing, however is proving to be a more difficult challenge for me, however I do plan to work on a couple of those first drafts.

Besides my stories, I am an avid reader of all types of fiction. I hope to add to my blog some book reviews, movie reviews and any other subjects that catch my interest.

Thank you for visiting.

  1. I love the pic you use for this site of the book, ink and feather pen. Is this your pic, or did you obtain it off of another website? I didn’t know if it was free to use?

  2. My header picture of the book and pen I bought off of a graphics sight called “Dreamstime”. It’s royalty free. I like it too, 😉

    • Thanks! What does ‘royalty free’ mean?

      • Mmm… basically it means that the graphic is free for commercial or personal use. For example, Istock is a paid subscription site, you have to pay to use their graphics/photos/etc. I’ve been searching the free stock sites for images not just for my blog, but also for book covers for my upcoming short stories/novels.

  3. So the pic was free? I got confused when you said you ‘bought’ and ‘royalty free’. Oh, I see – you are a paid member of that site and this pic was free to you. Correct?

    • lol yes, sorry about my wording, it’s hard to explain with text sometimes. Dreamstime is a paid service, but once you’ve bought the image, you can use it as you wish. In the long run it’s safer then taking an image off of google without the artists/photographer’s permission.

  4. Hello there ( :, I have a question, how do you start writting?

    • A hard question to answer. I know writing can seem daunting at times, but when I have a story, or scene in mind I try my best to get it out on paper. I really just pushing past my insecurities and just let my imagination and creativity flow. I’ve been a part of several role play boards where i’ve managed to grow my writing skills as well confidence which has helped a lot too.

  5. I love the design of your blog. I am definitely going to subscribe to your email list since we seem to have a bit in common.
